First Meeting of Fosters Meadow Families - May 18, 2002
German families of Fosters Meadow and environs met with the Franklin Square Historical Society at the Washington Avenue School in Franklin Square. Those in attendance brought and displayed artifacts and memorabilia of Fosters Meadow. Paul van Wie discussed the history of Franklin Square Historical Society and its future plans. Guest speaker, Paul Hoffman spoke of how artifacts explain the history and presented the lost and forgotten story of the Herman’s Hotel and the Young Farmers Light Guard. Each participant told the history of their memorabilia that was on display. Following the meeting the attendees retired to the Plattdeutsche Park Restaurant for German food and libations.
